What no body talks about, but is probably the most important section to cover
Remove stimulants from your life and this is where the real growth begins
Changing from a very unhealthy lifestyle to a more sustainable one?
Or maybe you’re lifestyle is not so bad but you’re thinking you can always improve and make some healthier more sustainable changes?
Well you’re right, you can always make positive change somewhere. We’re all a work in progress and I’m no different, I’m on the journey with you.
“The biggest positive impact clean, healthier lifestyle has, is on your mental health, focus and the quality of your emotions you experience on a daily basis. Balance your blood sugar levels and make the most of every experience.” Adam Phillips – Founder of Life Grip
But this comes at a cost and this happens shortly into your journey. Because we have are trying to move from a poor unhealthy lifestyle into one that’s a 180 degree change in comparison, you’ll have things bubble up that were previously suppressed from a life full of stimulants.
Through life as we grow up, we’re presented with loads of stimulants from TV, Sweets, Alcohol, Drugs, Coffee, Social Media and unhealthy foods, the list goes on. The first time we experience any of these things, we begin to feel good, we get dopamine and other hormonal changes in the body/mind and we automatically want to experience these things again and again. 2 things can happen from here:
- Addiction to that stimulant occurs
- Reliance on that stimulant occurs
“In the absence of stimulants, the real work begins” Adam, Life Grip
Both cases are becoming reliant on that stimulant to feel and/or live your life a certain way. When stress, challenge and duress appears, an automatic need arises for those stimulants which would be able to remove you from that situation or make it easier to endure.
There is nothing wrong with stimulants, but when you rely on them, that’s when you’re creating an additional layer of complexity to your life which now at some point you’ll need to overcome. Stop adding more negative layers to your life, we have enough to get through, we don’t need anymore.
We’ve all collected stimulants over our lifetime we rely on and now it’s important to remove the attachment to them. Practice ‘detachment’. This not only applies to stimulants but many things in order to live a life that accepts change, as change is inevitable. Things come and go, but when we’re reliant on things, the moment they leave us, we’re emotional.
“A balanced perspective prepares you for sustainable success” Adam, Life Grip
When making massive lifestyle changes, this is going to involve giving up/reducing the reliance on the stimulants you have accumulated over your lifetime. Once removed, you now have an issue. Where do you turn? What do you reach for? How do you deal with it?
As there’s no stimulant to turn to now and reach for, you’re now immersed in the issue that’s presented itself. The stimulant would have normally provided you with an escape, changed your state and/or provided comfort.
So before going into a total lifestyle change, it’s important to have a balanced perspective as to what’s about to unfold. It isn’t all rosy and yellow brick roads, you need to walk through the mud in order to reap the rewards of what’s on the other side. But once you’re there, you’re a stronger, more fulfilled and satisfied person.
“The lifestyle you have today, determines the quality of life you have tomorrow” Adam, Life Grip
Know that there’s positive and negative effects from total lifestyle change and the negatives you’ll deal with is actually where the growth is. Moving from a position of now to the future is your lifestyle gap you’re about to begin the journey of. You now have a balanced perspective of the journey and instead of reacting to challenge, duress and obstacles, you’re standing up straight ready for the resistance. All of a sudden these walls of challenge and duress are transparent, you can see through them towards your end goal, where you’re going to end up and you keep knowing these walls down.
“Obstacles, challenge and times of duress is where the growth happens” Adam, Life Grip
You get on the other side and you’re a better person because if it, you learn more about yourself and allow this new level of confidence, satisfaction healthier version of yourself to leak into other areas of your life.
It’s important to have the correct support from people who understand what it takes to create a total lifestyle change. Although the work and effort comes from yourself, it does make it easier when people understand it takes work and busting down barriers.
Here are the benefits I received from a total lifestyle change;
- Improved Mental Health
- Increased confidence and self wroth
- Increased Quality of Emotions
- Reduced Stress
- A sense of calmness through my daily life
- More energy that’s stable throughout the day

It’s about making this sustainable and doing it the right way for you, will ensure this. Take the time, immerse yourself in all aspects of the journey and accept the inevitable challenges and change that will occur. The balanced perspective will ensure this and prevent you from giving up when it gets tough.
