Awareness of your surroundings is important and I'll tell you why. If you're not aware, the things that happen around you have little meaning. You think they're just happening and you're not sure why etc. A lack of awareness restricts growth as you're not able to pull the main learning points from the situations happening around you, understand them and use whats needed to your advantage at a later date.

When you walk into a room, do you have tunnel vision or are you taking in your surroundings?

When listening to someone is your mind off in another place and you're missing a % of what's being said?
